Marketing content creator, fashion blogger and educationalist, Rida Bokhari (MSc International Marketing, 2017) has been the International Alumni Ambassador for Pakistan for the past five years. Having now stepped down from the position, Rida shares what the role taught her and how it has kept her connected to King’s.
‘My association with King’s College London has been a beautiful and memorable one. My journey continuously challenged me to embrace diversity and go above and beyond my potential. After five years (2018–23) of representing my alma mater as the first Alumni Ambassador for Pakistan, I will now be stepping down from this role. I have also served as an alumni mentor and a diversity mentor at King’s College London.
‘King’s instilled within me the fire to succeed and taught me how to remain balanced while practising my passions in real life. I am humbled to share that I manage three diverse roles: marketing content creator, fashion blogger and educationalist.
‘As an Alumni Ambassador, I have been able to practise my passion for service to society and create impact at a larger scale. I have engaged in numerous social initiatives and digital and in-person student support and alumni engagement activities over the past five years. In 2021, I organised a food care package drive across the lower socio-economic urban rural areas in my hometown, Islamabad, for King’s Global Day of Service 2021. In March 2023, I led a Ramadan date fruit (khajoor) distribution drive across Islamabad to support the underprivileged who were fasting during the month. My role enabled me to strengthen the bridge between King’s and Pakistan through relationship-building and regular interaction with hundreds of students, alumni and prospective candidates.
‘A key learning for me through this role can be defined in one phrase: “What you bring into a place, make sure you come out even better.”
‘It was an honour for me to serve King’s and Pakistan, and contribute towards building a strong, diverse community of students and alumni for a world-class institute nearing its 200th anniversary.
‘This journey has been amazing, fulfilling and life-changing. I am truly glad to have made such wonderful connections and friends for life at King’s as a student and through this role. It certainly isn’t a goodbye; I will always continue to contribute to King’s and it shall always hold a special place in my heart.’
The Alumni Ambassador is a volunteer role where recent graduates share their experiences of King’s with prospective students, offer holders and new and current students who are studying towards a degree at the university. To find out more, head to our international alumni webpage.
