Internationally respected lawyer, politician and philanthropist.
Law alumnus Alvin Yeo (Law, 1986) passed away in July 2022, aged 60, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Alvin had a career spanning law and politics. He was co-founder and senior partner of WongPartnership LLP in Singapore. At 37, he became the youngest Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court. Alvin also served from 2006 to 2015 as an elected Member of Parliament, during which period he was appointed at various times as Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Home Affairs & Law.

‘As a leading disputes lawyer, Alvin received many accolades including the “Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession” Award from Chambers Asia-Pacific in recognition of his exceptional work as a litigator. He was also named “Singapore Lawyer of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific and recognised as a global market leader for International Arbitration. In 2021, Alvin was inducted into the Hall of Fame by The Legal 500.’
In 2013, Alvin founded the Singapore Scholarship Fund at King’s to help Singaporean students in need of financial assistance to pursue their studies at King’s.
