This summer, we celebrate one year since Professor Shitij Kapur returned to King’s as President & Principal. Since then, he has met with hundreds of our alumni, students, staff and friends – virtually and in-person – and King’s has achieved much in his first year: maintaining our position as one of the top 10 UK universities in the world, sustaining our research impact ranking in the 2021 REF results and leading UK universities’ response to hosting Ukrainian refugee students and academics.
Now, one year after returning to King’s, the Principal will be answering your questions in a Facebook Live. Hosted by alumna Samrina Bhatti (MPharm Pharmacy, 2012), watch Professor Kapur answer your questions in a friendly one to one chat.

Happy Birthday to alumna Virginia Woolf! 🎉
Writer and feminist icon Virginia Woolf (1882–1941) was a student at the King’s College London Ladies’ Department from 1897–1902.
She took classes in Greek, Latin, German and history alongside her sister Vanessa Bell, who became a well-known artist 🎨
Virginia was a pioneering novelist whose most famous works include Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, Orlando and her seminal essay on women and fiction A Room of One’s Own.

We met at King’s – Yvonne and Andy
When Yvonne (BA English Language and Literature, 2010) first met Andy (BA History, 2010) at King’s, she thought he looked like a young Heath Ledger.
Eight years later, they started dating, and the rest is history. We talk to Yvonne and Andy about their memories of King’s, and of their experiences together in London.

Registration for the King’s Careers Shanghai Online Job Fair is officially open!
The annual fall recruitment is approaching, and King’s Careers is working intensively with a number of corporate partners to prepare for the various activities of the autumn recruitment.
The first recruitment event of the year will be the Shanghai Recruitment Fair for all our Chinese students and alumni, taking place on 21 September from 8:30am to 12:00am UK time and from 15:30pm to 19:00pm China time . At that time, there will be enterprises and institutions from different fields such as technology, finance, consulting, energy, research and public services.
We will be co-hosting this event with six global higher education institutions, Imperial College London, LSE, UCL, Queen Mary and University of Chicago, and the Shanghai Municipal Government. Bookings for the event are limited, and all King’s students and graduates within the past two years are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid missing out on this valuable opportunity.
The registration deadline is September 1st, after which we will email you a link to the career fair platform. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to complete your profile and upload your CV.
